Today seems like any other day, except it's not. It's the first day of spring break, but most importantly it's the day to start a challenge. A challenge that I've been putting off for a long time. I'm a little nervous because sometimes I question what did get myself into? However, it has come to this because I do not want to fit into my big pants again. There was a point in my life that at 5 feet 2 inches tall I weighed 170 pounds at age 22. It's easy to say how I got that big when I had weighed about 135 pounds throughout high school and most of my early college years. I gained the weight because I would eat out a lot and would not make time to exercise.
After I had a life turning event in my life, my goal was just to graduate from college and enjoy the single life. One day walking through Macy's with my mother, we saw this gorgeous ball gown with a not so flattering price tag. My mother told me she would purchase the dress, but it came with a catch; the dress had to be size 6. My eyes probably looked like the guy from "The Mask". I accepted her challenge, and began working out 2-3 times a day for the next 3 months. To make a long story short, I walked on the Oregon State University graduation platform in June 2011 with the dress that my mother had purchased me.
Now I am in my second semester of graduate school and once more my clothing has started to fit tight. To the point were the button of one of my jeans popped off :-O I know that I do not eat to terrible (don't really eat fast food or drink soda or juice), but I am not the healthiest person ever when it comes to staying fit. I have the determination to succeed in this mission. I want to be healthy. I want to fit again into my clothing and not have the muffin top out of my jeans or be unable to zip-up my tops or jackets. Plus, I want to be proud of my body when I look in front of the mirror.
I am ready for "The Journey: March 2013!"
